URN (U.S.) to launch "Reckoning Hour" video during webcast of Milwaukee show - February 4, 2010
Chicago-based URN have completed work on the video for their single Reckoning Hour with Liquid Productions (who also worked on NOVEMBERS DOOM's Rain clip) for the current album, Scribings of a Forgotten Soul, currently available on Rotting Corpse Records.
The band gratefully announces Eagles Entertainment will officially launch the video as part of the live webcast of their performance at The Rave in Milwaukee tomorrow night (Friday, February 5th) with EPICA, THREAT SIGNAL, and BLACKGUARD at 8pm CST/9pm EST.

In other news, URN singer/guitarist Dominic St. Charles was recently interviewed in the current issue of OUTBURN magazine by Nick DeMarino. They discussed the inspiration behind the album concept of a prison riot based on true events of friends of his that survived one when we he was in high school. EPICA was also interviewed in the current issue as well.

To begin with, Rotting Corpse would like to congratulate URN for an excellent show at the Logan Square Auditorium with EX DEO and ENSIFERUM this past Sunday. They will be wrapping up their 2009 tour dates with a show in Vnuks in Wisconsin with RICTUS GRIN. Also, the band will be putting the finishing touches on their video for the track “Reckoning Hour” of their recent release, “Scribings of a Forgotten Soul”. The Chicago-based gothic/doom metal-band URN (U.S.) was proud to announce today that Jeremiah Link, (formerly of Necrogression, Thruster, Deadnight) as their new permanent drummer. Jeremiah had been sitting in with the band for the past couple of months after the band parted ways with Melissa Jade upon returning from their tour with Tarja Turunen and The Eternal this past spring.

Scribings of a Forgotten Soul to be Released July 21st - June 29, 2009
American gothic/doom metallers URN have completed work on their third album, titled "Scribings of a Forgotten Soul", for a July 21st, 2009 release via Rotting Corpse Records, the band’s second release with the label. The cover and all artwork were created by Corvis Nocturnum also who runs The Ninth Gate magazine and the layout was done by Connie Bergmann of DarkWind Studios.
"Scribings of a Forgotten Soul" was mixed and mastered by Dan Precision at Bombshelter Studios (Rise Against, Naked Raygun) in Chicago, IL whom they also collaborated with on their successful and critically-acclaimed 2006 release “Dancing with the Demigods”.
Rev. Thomas Thorn of The Electric Hellfire Club also appears as guest vocal for the upcoming album on the song "Hero Worship". URN frontman Dominic St. Charles had played guitar and did backing vocals with the Electric Hellfire Club back in late 1999 to 2000 around the "Witness of the Millennium" album and its subsequent touring and the two have remained very close over the years.
Jape Peratalo, formerly of Finland’s melancholy rock outfit, To/Die/For was also scheduled to do a guest vocal appearance, but with To/Die/For’s recent disbanding, schedules didn’t coincide and both sides have mutually agreed to re-schedule for him to appear on a future URN release.

St. Charles gave insight on the band’s new album which will be a concept album based on a true story of several individuals that were in his life that were directly involved in a prison riot at state correctional facility in a nearby town from where he attended high school.
“Think of it as a “Law & Order” approach to the story we are telling here. Of course, all of the characters are completely fictitious and do not represent any person living or dead. It was a major event that shook my community at the time and my best friend’s father was the night shift supervisor. So a couple of months before it happened he took a group of me and my friends on tour of the prison at 2:30 a.m. (we thought it would be interesting to do).
The experience of seeing all that was going on from the inside from many perspectives, the prisoners, the guards, etc., ended up being highly enlightening for me. So when the riot broke out it was hitting very close to home and I had been doing a good bit of writing at the time and decided to chronicle these events. So in essence, that is what this album is about a fictional depiction of this event.
We are very excited for the release this album as it has been a work in progress for many years now and we thank Rotting Corpse Records for their continued dedication behind us."
URN recently returned from being a direct support act for Tarja (Turunen formerly of Nightwish) along with their good friends The Eternal from Australia for her North America leg of her “Storm Returns to America” tour.

Memorial Day (weekend) BBQ reminder - May 19, 2009
Hi everyone,
I just wanted to give the rest of you locals a chance to hit me up for our street address for your invite for our MASSIVE BBQ this Saturday starting at 3pm!
- Where is it? North side of Chicago, in Logan Square. You need to email me at doom diva (at) yahoo (dot) com for the address. And when you email me, please let me know how many people you are bringing with you.
- How much is it? Free. It would be awful kind of you to bring either something to drink or munch on (libations or potluck) :) Besides, that way, you can make sure if there is nothing out that you like, at least what you brought is good!
- What kind of food will there be? Raw vegan to hardcore carnivore, soft and hard drinks. No one should feel miffed, especially with my famous spreads!
- What bands are going to be playing? As hard as it may be for people to understand, no bands will be performing. This is a barbecue, meaning our guys also have the day off ;) However, we will be taking the after party over to Memories before 9pm (gotta loooove that Yelp! review haha!).
- Can I bring someone? Yes! Again, please be kind and give me an idea of how many people. So far, we have 45-50 probables, with another 20 or so maybes :)

Urn: I walked in on this Chicago based outfit in what appeared to be the middle of or actually very close to the end of their set which was some pretty cool crushing Doom Metal. After hearing a few melodies from them I was actually saddened by my tardiness since they were.quite good for this genre. With the amount of bands doing this kind of stuff these days I have to say that I felt ardent followers of this scene would enjoy them. That being said, the band is comprised of both male and female members, with guys handling the guitars while the ladies deliver the keyboards and drums. The keyboardist also sings and steps out from the boards for a couple of tracks and this is what we caught most of. They are currently signed to a label called Rotting Corpse Records whom I have never heard of before tonight and while they had several EP’s and a full length available, they were announcing a new CD was coming out soon with oversized cards. The cards allowed the interested to get the band to sign them or just to tell them about this upcoming release which is entitled “Scriblings Of A Forgotten Soul”.
